The Joyful Series is focused on creating healing spaces. Inspired by the natural world and its ability to counterbalance the chaos of everyday life, I use color to evoke contemplative, tranquil, and joyful states—for myself and for the viewer.
Joyful Lavender is inspired by the exuberant lavender growing out of a copper kettle that sits in the sun on my front porch. I take every opportunity during the short Minnesota summers to sit on my porch and gaze out at the native garden plants growing along the edge of my yard, forming the backdrop to my potted lavender.
This 30" x 40" acrylic painting is painted black along the 1.5” deep sides of the canvas and is wired for hanging.
