Inspired by the natural world and its ability to counterbalance the chaos of everyday life, I use color to evoke contemplative, tranquil, and joyful states—for myself and for the viewer. Joyful Daisies was created as an Buffalo Art Guild project to produce a work inspired by the artist Yayoi Kusama. Using daisies surrounded by swirling mark-making as a way to both work through grief and create joy, my intent was to create the energy of a Kusama piece without copying her style. “Joyful Daisies” started the Joy Series, focused on creating healing spaces.
This 30" x 40" acrylic painting is painted orange-yellow along the 1.5” deep sides of the canvas and is wired for hanging.
