My creative process is fed by years of design experience and artistic exploration. Every design project starts by talking with my client about their end user and the experience and solutions we want to create for them. As an artist my process is more internal: keep my heart and mind open to new ideas, explore techniques, and appreciate beauty in the unexpected. I've learned the best results happen when listening to people's stories, staying flexible and creating a balance between strategy and fearless exploration.
I find beauty in weathered surfaces that show a history of human touch and time. I approach each painting with an idea that tugs at me, and improvise with acrylic paint, sketches, inkjet prints, stencils and stamps. My subconscious chats away as I brush on color and image, add and take away, look closely and stare at the canvas from across the room. I often reconsider my painting in the middle of the process and recreate entire sections, allowing the textures from the hidden layers to become part of the composition.
A founding member of the Delano Artist Guild, and member of WARM, I display work in local festivals and businesses. I have contributed to shows at Flow Art Space, Your Art's Desire, Coloplast, The Show Gallery Lowertown, and Studio 144.
I have 15+ years experience creating visually engaging design solutions, meeting tight deadlines, and working within client budgets. I work directly with my own clients and as an independent contractor for other design firms. My design background includes publications, digital and print consumer and B2B marketing, brand identity design and management, and setting up and maintaining Squarespace websites.
