Whether portraiture, landscape or even imagined scenes outside my own day-to-day reality, all primarily draw upon my own personal experiences. Putting them into the form of paintings allows me to spend time with the subject matter over a period of time, and both alter and enliven their visual aspects through color, composition, texture and improvisation.
